Rumonge Province, Burundi — September 29, 2023 The beginning of a school year is often filled with excitement and anticipation. Yet for children from disadvantaged families, it can also be a time of struggle, as many lack the basic materials needed to attend classes with dignity and confidence.

To address this challenge, La Casa Humana Burundi, in partnership with Social Welfare Association, organized a distribution of school supplies in Birimba commune, Kagweji hill, Rumonge Province. Vulnerable children received essential items such as notebooks, pens, and other materials that will enable them to start the academic year on equal footing with their peers.

Organizers stressed that education is a fundamental right and that poverty should never be a barrier to learning. The initiative was designed not only to provide tools for study but also to restore hope and reinforce the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
“When communities come together, we can break barriers and open doors to a brighter future. Union makes strength,” said one project leader.

The event was marked by joy and gratitude from the children and their families, who expressed relief at being supported during such a critical time. Smiles and laughter reflected the impact of solidarity and the importance of collective action in promoting education.

This distribution forms part of the broader Project Education for All, which continues to reach vulnerable communities across Burundi. The initiative seeks to ensure that no child is left behind and that education becomes a shared responsibility, upheld by compassion and unity.
